About One Physiotherapy

 

One physiotherapy is a local Ottawa physiotherapy clinic; we are here to ensure that you receive the best possible care to get you moving with comfort again. Our friendly and dedicated staff provide expert care and rehabilitation for injuries, persistent pain, vestibular disorders, and concussions, along with specialized treatments for Ehler's Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD).

At One Physiotherapy our approach is based on the philosophy that every individual is unique, and therefore requires an individualized approach to their treatment.  We want to create an experience that allows you to feel confident and empowered to navigate your recovery so you can get back to doing the things that matter most to you.  

We are a hands-on clinic.  All treatment sessions are one-on-one, during which you receive the undivided attention of your therapist. We feel this is the best way to truly understand you, the client, and your recovery goals.

Alana Petrie

Alana graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master of Science in Physical Therapy after completing a bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion at Laurentian University. Since then she has become passionate about helping people reach their goals by addressing the source of their pain as well as predisposing factors.

Alana is devoted to being able to provide the best possible care to her clients, be it through learning new treatment techniques or discovering new technologies. Alana has completed extensive post graduate training in manual therapy, taping, Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), acupuncture and dry needling. She is a certified Bioflex Laser Therapist. She has also taken specialized courses and has developed expertise in the assessment and treatment of vertigo and associated vestibular disorders, as well as concussion rehabilitation.

Alana loves being active and has participated in many sports over the years. Growing up she spent every moment she could at the arena figure skating. These days, when not at the clinic, you can find her on the baseball diamond, the ski hill and out exploring Ottawa in a kayak.

Dr. Trisha Grant


Chiropractic

A native of Sackville, NB, Dr. Trisha Grant graduated from Mount Allison University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She has always had a keen interest in natural and holistic health and wellness care, so eagerly went on to attend the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, where she earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1999. From 1999-2008, Dr. Grant established a busy and successful family Chiropractic practice in Fredericton, NB. During her years in Fredericton, she also started her family and has since enjoyed raising her two children in a wellness lifestyle. In 2008, Dr. Grant moved to Ottawa, ON. At that time she decided to work as a Chiropractic Associate, to allow more opportunity for time with her children. Throughout her career, Dr Grant has provided chiropractic care to assist all members of the family achieve optimal health and wellness. Dr Grant uses a variety of evidence based treatment methods, including diversified hands-on manual adjustment techniques, several non-manual adjustment techniques, and a variety of soft tissue techniques. Incorporating these various technique approaches, as well as use of modalities (including laser, TENS, ultrasound, etc) allows her to adapt the optimal treatment approach to the unique needs of each patient, from infants to seniors and the whole family in between. In her free time, Dr Grant enjoys keeping active and fit, with a variety of classes at a local gym, walking, cycling, cross country skiing, yoga and swimming. An avid reader, she is often found in a quiet corner or outside absorbing the peace of nature lost in a good book.

Peter Ballyk


Laser Therapy, Physiotherapy, Virtual Physiotherapy

Peter completed his Master of Science in Physiotherapy at the top of his class at Oxford Brookes University in 2020. He began his Physiotherapy career in the United Kingdom with experience in intensive care, the emergency department and inpatient orthopedics at Oxford University Hospitals until 2022. He had always planned to return to Canada and to transition into private practice, and so he and his wife moved back to Stittsville where his wife grew up.

His other educational background includes a Master of Science in Aging & Health and BScH in Life Sciences, both from Queen’s University.

Peter is driven to support people to do the things they love. He uses exercises and education as the mainstay of his practice, and employs strength and conditioning principles to optimize results in patients’ functioning and pain. He also uses manual therapy, heat, ultrasound and other modalities to improve his patients’ symptoms.

Originally from Vermont, Peter loves to downhill ski and to play hockey. In the warmer months, you can often find Peter outside on a hike or a canoe trip with his family and friends.

Pratyusha Kavuluri

Pratyusha Kavuluri graduated as a topper of the University and the State with Master’s degree in Orthopaedics and Sports in 2013. She has more than 10 years of experience in treating patients for various musculoskeletal and sports conditions such as Ligament sprains, muscle strains, post-Surgical conditions, Spine conditions and various joint disorders.

Pratyusha has always been passionate about the connection between the pelvic floor and other musculoskeletal conditions which led her to pursue a specialization in treating various pelvic floor disorders in all genders. She strongly believes that communicating well with her patients and working towards patients’ goals helps achieve better outcomes.

She is a published author in the International Journal with her research in athletes and she also played an instrumental role in designing a novel ultrasound device that helps treat acute and chronic joint pain.

Level I, II and III Pelvic floor physiotherapy Functional movement training Kinesiology taping Cupping EEDS ECHO (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders)

Sara Carter

Sara graduated top of her class from the International Academy of Massage in Ottawa and is a registrant of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). She excels at creating specific treatment plans for various injuries using Fascial Restructuring, Cupping, and Deep Tissue therapies. During treatments, Sara’s focus is to realign the body bringing health, wellness and pain relief to her clients.

Sarah Martins

Sarah Martins began her nearly 20-year career as a physiotherapist in her home country, Brazil, before moving to the Ottawa area in 2011. Since then, she began working in the field of Orthopedics in private practice. She has a whole-body assessment approach with the goal to determine the main source of your physical issue. Sarah firmly believes in client education and will do everything in her power to give you tools and strategies, working with you to achieve your specific rehab goals.

She is committed to lifelong learning and has taken numerous post-graduate programs to provide her clients with the most efficient and up-to-date treatments. She is trained in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Functional Dry Needling, Acupuncture, Bonefit (for Osteoporosis), GLA:D (for hip and knee arthritis), EDS ECHO (Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders) and Manual Therapy Techniques for the TMJ, shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. She is also a Certified Bioflex Laser Therapist.

When not practicing physiotherapy, she loves to spend time with her family and friends, walk her dogs Jack and Balou, enjoy outdoors activities and follow sports.

Valeria Costa

Massage Therapy

Valéria graduated from the International Academy of Massage Therapists in 2016 as a Registered Massage Therapist. She is committed to helping people heal while prioritizing their individual needs. She specializes in therapeutic treatments such as deep tissue, pre and postnatal, sports and relaxation massage.

Valéria takes a holistic approach to massage therapy where the whole body is considered in each treatment, whether through deep tissue massage with myofascial and trigger point release or a relaxation massage with a Reiki component for deep relaxation. She is dedicated to ongoing learning and has taken additional training in TMJ treatment (Temporomandibular Joint) dysfunction, cupping therapy, hot stone massage, Thai Steams, and Thai Massage.

In 2018, Valeria traveled to Thailand to study the roots of Thai Massage. She earned a Diploma of Thai Massage from the Thai Massage School of Chiang Mai. After this experience, Valeria became even more curious about holistic treatment and the mind-body connection, and she subsequently studied Visceral Manipulation (Level 1) with The Barral Institute.

Outside of work, Valeria enjoys practicing yoga, hiking. She loves to be outside connecting with nature and spending time with her partner and their dogs and her friends. Her favorite place to be is by the ocean. Valeria is fluent in English and Portuguese. She looks forward to meeting you and assisting you on your journey to health.
